Mission Statement

Objectives of our Society

The Swiss Society for Allergology and Immunology promotes teaching and research in the fields of allergology and immunology. It especially promotes dialogue between fundamental researchers, clinicians and laboratory specialists.

The Society supervises education and training and safeguards the professional interests of its members, particularly by the following measures:

  • representing the professional interests of physicians bearing the title of Specialist in Allergology and Clinical Immunology or candidates wishing to gain the title
  • representing professional interests with regard to “Clinical Immunology” as laboratory medicine and representing the interests of FAMH title holders/candidates (Swiss Association of Heads of Medical Analytical Laboratories)

In these fields the Society concerns itself with postgraduate education (advanced training, including the management of exams), continuing professional development and quality control.

The Society organizes symposia and CPD courses and awards scholarships to members who, as fundamental researchers or PhD students, deal with questions of molecular and cellular mechanisms of the immune response or with the prevention of allergic and immunological diseases.

Further objectives of the Society are to inform the public about allergies and diseases of immunological origin, to support fundamental research and to promote the development or application of preventive measures against such diseases.
